SIX MONTHS! Where did they all go?! Our little blueberry is now a dinner plate hahaha!
This week has been frustrating in the wardrobe department. Even my work scrub tops AKA sacks don't fit around my belly/hips now, I am well and truly into preggy pants and all my t-shirts ride up over my bump and annoy the heck outta me. I have been lucky enough to have a friend lend me some nice maternity clothes since she was pregnant this time last year.
We saw 'a' midwife this week. Our regular lady was on yet another birth at the time of our appointment. It must be all those New Years babies being born! So far we've seen backup midwives more than our actual one lol Everything is fine, baby is moving higher in my belly and is measuring in the right spot for our dates. His heart rate was perfect, again between 130-140bpm. My blood pressure was border-line low 90/60 which is very strange for me as it's usually around 120, but I've not noticed any dizziness or other symptoms.
We finally got our 'pink book' of maternity notes to take home. We have to look after this and take it in to each visit to be filled in. The notes from the midwives are really nice to read as they add a personal touch to them, not just all facts and numbers :)
Our wee boy hasn't been as active this week and a couple of days I was worried as I hadn't felt him at all by lunch time which is very unusual. But by bed time last night he was back to his usual tricks and Dad got to feel him squirming around.
I've emptied out his room and there's just baby stuff in there now. We have been lent a nice rimu change table which will double as something to put the bath on and looks really good. It is so cool to look in and think that it will be his little space next year :)
Baby is measuring roughly 30cm head to foot now and about one and a half pounds in weight. His ears, outer and inner have fully formed so he can detect whether he is right way up or upside down. Eyelashes, eyebrows and nails are also all there and capillaries are growing under his skin so he's a bit more pink. His nostrils are beginning to open and the lungs are getting a coating on the inside that will help them expand once he's born. If born now, he'd have a chance of surviving!
Here's a vid of babymcb squirming and hiccuping...it's a little blurry but you get the idea :)

The fat fluffy visitor was a cute touch!
